Got any tears Nancy about those violently dying in YOUR war? I didn't think so.
KABUL — A bomb attack killed a US soldier in southern Afghanistan, the NATO-led force said Friday, capping another bloody week for foreign forces battling Taliban militants.
"An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member was killed yesterday (Thursday) when his patrol struck an improvised explosive device in southern Afghanistan," a statement from the coalition force said.
US military spokeswomen Captain Elizabeth Mathias confirmed the dead soldier was American, but no further details were released.
On Thursday, six Italian soldiers were killed when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-packed car into their armoured vehicles in Kabul. The attack also left 10 Afghan civilians dead.
This year has been the deadliest in Afghanistan for more than 100,000 troops under NATO and US command battling a Taliban insurgency at its most potent since the 2001 US-led invasion toppled the hardliners.
Nearly 50 foreign soldiers have been killed in September alone, sending support for the war plummeting in coalition member states.
