The Cannabist

Jan 1, 2014 is set to become a famous day in the history of the United States. The commercialization of cannabis begins.

As an editorial in the Denver Post says...
If you're wondering about all the news coverage of the impending opening of retail marijuana outlets, it's because the event really is a big deal. Colorado on Wednesday will become the first place in the world — we repeat, in the world — where it will be fully legal to sell marijuana to anyone over 21 in licensed retail outlets.   more

The Denver Post is certainly jumping on the weed bandwagon. They have hired its first ever marijuana editor and started  their own site dedicated to the culture of cannabis...The Cannabist. Not bad, sort of a High Times lite but will cover the local events and personalities. Reviews of strains and products too. Every town needs something like it after legalization. The mainstreaming of marijuana. Who woulda thunk it?

Colorado's experiment is not perfect. Certainly not as laissez-faire as many would liked to have seen but much better tha what been dealing with for decades. Personal choice harassment may be on the way out.

There are some warning signs. I don't recall the exact show but it was feature on Colorado's cannabis culture and one of the ground floor entrepreneurs interviewed admitted he was hoping to one day sell his business to a big corporation and make himself a millionaire. We can easily predict what would follow going down that path.

Anything that puts a dent in the fraudulent war on drugs has potential for some real good though. As long as there are always provisions for personal grows, individuals can opt out of the commercialization if they so choose. Unless the price of pot gets too high through tax greed, the cartels, our government/bankers and the Mexicans, are going to see a large drop off in profits. If there's one thing that the US can still be number one in besides drone bombing wedding parties, it's in the growing of fine cannabis.

Perhaps 2014 will even see Colorado lead the country into a new era of industrial hemp production. That could be a very positive development.

Anyway, Jan. 1 is a day to celebrate, even for those of us in places that repress freedom. The seeds of  cannabis acceptance have been planted and they will spread. Who knows? ....maybe we can even work on some other problems that need our urgent attention.

Like this one as shown in the graphic below. There's no shortage of things that need fixing. Most won't be quite as easy as being finally able to grow a plant but we don't have the half a century we have been waiting to begin to resolve the marijuana issue. will be interesting.

Peace Broke Out

My favorite Christmas tale has got to be the World War I truce in the trenches. The time when the pawns of the bankers wars in the manufactured conflicts for profits ceased the killing for a short moment as some men realized that they had more in common with their 'enemy' than the contrived narrative of war told them.

Unlike today, most of these men were not volunteers. They were 'conscripted,'  forced to fight for reasons they most likely never know but at times intuitively realized that the chaos was not of their making.

Will we ever stop the madness? Not until we refuse to wallow in the sandbox of the blatant lies. Not until the brainwashing of the masses is ended by our own hand of peace and truth. It can happen.

You are standing up to your knees in the slime of a waterlogged trench. It is the evening of 24 December 1914 and you on the dreaded Western Front.

Stooped over, you wade across to the firing step and take over the watch. Having exchanged pleasantries, your bleary-eyed and mud-spattered colleague shuffles off towards his dug out. Despite the horrors and the hardships, your morale is high and you believe that in the New Year the nation's army march towards a glorious victory.

But for now you stamp your feet in a vain attempt to keep warm. All is quiet when jovial voices call out from both friendly and enemy trenches. Then the men from both sides start singing carols and songs. Next come requests not to fire, and soon the unthinkable happens: you start to see the shadowy shapes of soldiers gathering together in no-man's land laughing, joking and sharing gifts.

Many have exchanged cigarettes, the lit ends of which burn brightly in the inky darkness. Plucking up your courage, you haul yourself up and out of the trench and walk towards the foe...

The meeting of enemies as friends in no-man's land was experienced by hundreds, if not thousands, of men on the Western Front during Christmas 1914. Today, 90 years after it occurred, the event is seen as a shining episode of sanity from among the bloody chapters of World War One - a spontaneous effort by the lower ranks to create a peace that could have blossomed were it not for the interference of generals and politicians.

The reality of the Christmas Truce, however, is a slightly less romantic and a more down to earth story. It was an organic affair that in some spots hardly registered a mention and in others left a profound impact upon those who took part.

Many accounts were rushed, confused or contradictory. Others, written long after the event, are weighed down by hindsight. These difficulties aside, the true story is still striking precisely because of its rag-tagged nature: it is more 'human' and therefore all the more potent.

Months beforehand, millions of servicemen, reservists and volunteers from all over the continent had rushed enthusiastically to the banners of war: the atmosphere was one of holiday rather than conflict.

But it was not long before the jovial façade was torn away. Armies equipped with repeating rifles, machine guns and a vast array of artillery tore chunks out of each other, and thousands upon thousands of men perished.

To protect against the threat of this vast firepower, the soldiers were ordered to dig in and prepare for next year's offensives, which most men believed would break the deadlock and deliver victory.

The early trenches were often hasty creations and poorly constructed; if the trench was badly sighted it could become a sniping hot spot. In bad weather (the winter of 1914 was a dire one) the positions could flood and fall in. The soldiers - unequipped to face the rigours of the cold and rain - found themselves wallowing in a freezing mire of mud and the decaying bodies of the fallen.

The man at the Front could not help but have a degree of sympathy for his opponents who were having just as miserable a time as they were.

Another factor that broke down the animosity between the opposing armies were the surroundings. In 1914 the men at the front could still see the vestiges of civilisation. Villages, although badly smashed up, were still standing. Fields, although pitted with shell-holes, had not been turned into muddy lunarscapes.

Thus the other world - the civilian world - and the social mores and manners that went with it was still present at the front. Also lacking was the pain, misery and hatred that years of bloody war build up. Then there was the desire, on all sides, to see the enemy up close - was he really as bad as the politicians, papers and priests were saying?

It was a combination of these factors, and many more minor ones, that made the Christmas Truce of 1914 possible.

On the eve of the Truce, the British Army (still a relatively small presence on the Western Front) was manning a stretch of the line running south from the infamous Ypres salient for 27 miles to the La Bassee Canal.

Along the front the enemy was sometimes no more than 70, 50 or even 30 yards away. Both Tommy and Fritz could quite easily hurl greetings and insults to one another, and, importantly, come to tacit agreements not to fire. Incidents of temporary truces and outright fraternisation were more common at this stage in the war than many people today realise - even units that had just taken part in a series of futile and costly assaults, were still willing to talk and come to arrangements with their opponents.

As Christmas approached the festive mood and the desire for a lull in the fighting increased as parcels packed with goodies from home started to arrive. On top of this came gifts care of the state. Tommy received plum puddings and 'Princess Mary boxes'; a metal case engraved with an outline of George V's daughter and filled with chocolates and butterscotch, cigarettes and tobacco, a picture card of Princess Mary and a facsimile of George V's greeting to the troops. 'May God protect you and bring you safe home,' it said.

Not to be outdone, Fritz received a present from the Kaiser, the Kaiserliche, a large meerschaum pipe for the troops and a box of cigars for NCOs and officers. Towns, villages and cities, and numerous support associations on both sides also flooded the front with gifts of food, warm clothes and letters of thanks.

The Belgians and French also received goods, although not in such an organised fashion as the British or Germans. For these nations the Christmas of 1914 was tinged with sadness - their countries were occupied. It is no wonder that the Truce, although it sprung up in some spots on French and Belgian lines, never really caught hold as it did in the British sector.

With their morale boosted by messages of thanks and their bellies fuller than normal, and with still so much Christmas booty to hand, the season of goodwill entered the trenches. A British Daily Telegraph correspondent wrote that on one part of the line the Germans had managed to slip a chocolate cake into British trenches.

Even more amazingly, it was accompanied with a message asking for a ceasefire later that evening so they could celebrate the festive season and their Captain's birthday. They proposed a concert at 7.30pm when candles, the British were told, would be placed on the parapets of their trenches.

The British accepted the invitation and offered some tobacco as a return present. That evening, at the stated time, German heads suddenly popped up and started to sing. Each number ended with a round of applause from both sides.

The Germans then asked the British to join in. At this point, one very mean-spirited Tommy shouted: 'We'd rather die than sing German.' To which a German joked aloud: 'It would kill us if you did'.

December 24 was a good day weather-wise: the rain had given way to clear skies.

On many stretches of the Front the crack of rifles and the dull thud of shells ploughing into the ground continued, but at a far lighter level than normal. In other sectors there was an unnerving silence that was broken by the singing and shouting drifting over, in the main, from the German trenches.

Along many parts of the line the Truce was spurred on with the arrival in the German trenches of miniature Christmas trees - Tannenbaum. The sight these small pines, decorated with candles and strung along the German parapets, captured the Tommies' imagination, as well as the men of the Indian corps who were reminded of the sacred Hindu festival of light.

It was the perfect excuse for the opponents to start shouting to one another, to start singing and, in some areas, to pluck up the courage to meet one another in no-man's land.

By now, the British high command - comfortably 'entrenched' in a luxurious châteaux 27 miles behind the front - was beginning to hear of the fraternisation.

Stern orders were issued by the commander of the BEF, Sir John French against such behaviour. Other 'brass-hats' (as the Tommies nick-named their high-ranking officers and generals), also made grave pronouncements on the dangers and consequences of parleying with the Germans.

However, there were many high-ranking officers who took a surprisingly relaxed view of the situation. If anything, they believed it would at least offer their men an opportunity to strengthen their trenches. This mixed stance meant that very few officers and men involved in the Christmas Truce were disciplined.

Interestingly, the German High Command's ambivalent attitude towards the Truce mirrored that of the British.

Christmas day began quietly but once the sun was up the fraternisation began. Again songs were sung and rations thrown to one another. It was not long before troops and officers started to take matters into their own hands and ventured forth. No-man's land became something of a playground.

Men exchanged gifts and buttons. In one or two places soldiers who had been barbers in civilian times gave free haircuts. One German, a juggler and a showman, gave an impromptu, and given the circumstances, somewhat surreal performance of his routine in the centre of no-man's land.

Captain Sir Edward Hulse of the Scots Guards, in his famous account, remembered the approach of four unarmed Germans at 08.30. He went out to meet them with one of his ensigns. 'Their spokesmen,' Hulse wrote, 'started off by saying that he thought it only right to come over and wish us a happy Christmas, and trusted us implicitly to keep the truce. He came from Suffolk where he had left his best girl and a 3 ½ h.p. motor-bike!'

Having raced off to file a report at headquarters, Hulse returned at 10.00 to find crowds of British soldiers and Germans out together chatting and larking about in no-man's land, in direct contradiction to his orders.

Not that Hulse seemed to care about the fraternisation in itself - the need to be seen to follow orders was his concern. Thus he sought out a German officer and arranged for both sides to return to their lines.

While this was going on he still managed to keep his ears and eyes open to the fantastic events that were unfolding.

'Scots and Huns were fraternizing in the most genuine possible manner. Every sort of souvenir was exchanged addresses given and received, photos of families shown, etc. One of our fellows offered a German a cigarette; the German said, "Virginian?" Our fellow said, "Aye, straight-cut", the German said "No thanks, I only smoke Turkish!"... It gave us all a good laugh.'

Hulse's account was in part a letter to his mother, who in turn sent it on to the newspapers for publication, as was the custom at the time. Tragically, Hulse was killed in March 1915.

On many parts of the line the Christmas Day truce was initiated through sadder means. Both sides saw the lull as a chance to get into no-man's land and seek out the bodies of their compatriots and give them a decent burial. Once this was done the opponents would inevitably begin talking to one another.

The 6th Gordon Highlanders, for example, organised a burial truce with the enemy. After the gruesome task of laying friends and comrades to rest was complete, the fraternisation began.

With the Truce in full swing up and down the line there were a number of recorded games of soccer, although these were really just 'kick-abouts' rather than a structured match.

On January 1, 1915, the London Times published a letter from a major in the Medical Corps reporting that in his sector the British played a game against the Germans opposite and were beaten 3-2.

Kurt Zehmisch of the 134th Saxons recorded in his diary: 'The English brought a soccer ball from the trenches, and pretty soon a lively game ensued. How marvellously wonderful, yet how strange it was. The English officers felt the same way about it. Thus Christmas, the celebration of Love, managed to bring mortal enemies together as friends for a time.'

The Truce lasted all day; in places it ended that night, but on other sections of the line it held over Boxing Day and in some areas, a few days more. In fact, there parts on the front where the absence of aggressive behaviour was conspicuous well into 1915.

Captain J C Dunn, the Medical Officer in the Royal Welch Fusiliers, whose unit had fraternised and received two barrels of beer from the Saxon troops opposite, recorded how hostilities re-started on his section of the front.

Dunn wrote: 'At 8.30 I fired three shots in the air and put up a flag with "Merry Christmas" on it, and I climbed on the parapet. He [the Germans] put up a sheet with "Thank you" on it, and the German Captain appeared on the parapet. We both bowed and saluted and got down into our respective trenches, and he fired two shots in the air, and the War was on again.'

The war was indeed on again, for the Truce had no hope of being maintained. Despite being wildly reported in Britain and to a lesser extent in Germany, the troops and the populations of both countries were still keen to prosecute the conflict.

Today, pragmatists read the Truce as nothing more than a 'blip' - a temporary lull induced by the season of goodwill, but willingly exploited by both sides to better their defences and eye out one another's positions. Romantics assert that the Truce was an effort by normal men to bring about an end to the slaughter.

In the public's mind the facts have become irrevocably mythologized, and perhaps this is the most important legacy of the Christmas Truce today. In our age of uncertainty, it comforting to believe, regardless of the real reasoning and motives, that soldiers and officers told to hate, loathe and kill, could still lower their guns and extend the hand of goodwill, peace, love and Christmas cheer.

However much the momentary peace of 1914 evidenced the desire of the combatants to live in amity with one another, it was doomed from the start by the realities beyond the trenches. As the English rock band The Farm, decades later, summed up the results after the enemies "joined together and decided not to fight," but failed, there was "nothing learned and nothing gained."

A celebration of the human spirit, the Christmas Truce remains a moving manifestation of the absurdities of war.
Although the Christmas Truce of 1914 may seem like a distant myth to those now at arms in parts of the world where vast cultural differences between combatants make such an occurrence impossible, it remains a symbol of hope to those who believe that a recognition of our common humanity may someday reverse the maxim that "Peace is harder to make than war."

We Walk On

Merry Christmas to everyone. A big thanks to all who have dropped by here this year and for the comments and the thoughtful and positive vibes.

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy holiday.

As the tune below goes....right or wrong...we walk on. Maybe in 2014 we can get a few more things right.

Shut Down "Bumblehive?"

The recommendations on what to do about the illegal NSA spying are out. As if they really matter.

If congress and the administration and the courts were serious about protecting privacy and especially cutting the budget, perhaps the litmus test would be shutting down the Utah Data Center "Bumblehive" before it goes completely on line.

Of course that's not going to happen.
Proposed NSA changes unlikely to affect Utah Data Center
The $1.2 billion Utah center along with the other five major NSA holding cells will roll right along. The debate is not a debate, it's only a cover story to get us to accept whatever data gathering the government wants to do. Token changes will be made but the great sucking sound you hear in the background will be the continuation of business as usual. There's too much invested and too much information to be used and abused against the American people...and the rest of the world.

Power will never concede their power voluntarily. If it takes false flags, more patsy 'terrorists' or inside job cyber attacks to maintain the powers that be control, that's what they will do. It's a simple strategy, it's all they know.

A Money Changers Birthday

The Federal Reserve System was created on December 23, 1913, when President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act into law. Today {12/16/13}, the Fed has decided to commemorate the event today with all three living Fed chairman delivering remarks.

An oil painting of the Signing of the Federal Reserve Act. Woodrow Wilson surrounded by the scoundrels that created the ‘Beast’ in 1913.

A true day that will live in infamy.

Jacob H. Schiff, Paul Warburg and other bankers influenced Congress to pass the Federal Reserve Act (December 23, 1913). The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was created in October 1913 to minimize predictable criticism. The bankers have manufactured panics, withdrawn credit and in the process have confiscated the citizen’s resources and personal property through phony bailouts, sanctioned by compromised politicians. These actions are calculated and designed to ultimately decimate the economy. The same bankers who promoted the Federal Reserve funded Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Molotov and Kirov (assumed names) in their godless, violent take-over of Russia. The bankers began making major profits when Bernard Baruch, Louis Brandeis and others manipulated their puppet Woodrow Wilson into entering World War I on borrowed money after the provoked attack on the Lusitania.

To aid business...jewish banker business

In 1912, Alfred Owen Crozier in his book "US Money vs. Corporate Currency "Aldrich Plan" gave us one of the last warnings before the age of the Federal Reserve began.

Much of what he had to say still holds true today.
    Selected excerpts:
The Wall Street and bank combine are now dickering for support with the management of both parties. It is said to be offering to finance the campaign of both sides if friendly candidates are nominated, and a real investigation of the "money trust" is prevented. It is willing to spend millions, because the play is for future billions and the political control of the republic.

Remember, those who have power to make money scarce or plenty have power over the business of every man, the happiness of every home, to make or break, to confer or destroy general prosperity. It gives them a hunger-hold on every man, woman and child. Shall this autocratic power be granted without reservation?

In all great national and international monetary and financial affairs the Rothschilds always play the ruling hand. They possess masterful genius and financial intellect. But it is the sheer weight of liquid or ready wealth held in such large quantity that all the nations of the world must go to the Rothschilds for financial assistance in time of peace, or before they can go to war whatever the provocation or emergency, that gives them supreme power in the world's affairs. No war can be waged without money, and no large nation can get adequate money to finance a war from any one but the Rothschilds. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that whenever any war is begun the Rothschilds have consented thereto. They may finance both sides, because it is immaterial whether the interest profits they crave come from one or both countries. In fact the war furnishes an excuse recognized as legitimate for charging both nations higher interest rates not only on the new debts but on old obligations maturing and being refunded.

It is known, of course, that after the nations have fought for a while and murdered tens of thousands and wounded and permanently maimed hundreds of thousands of human beings on both sides, pressure exerted by other governments instigated by the financiers will force a quick com- promise, leaving the nations both in approximately the same condition as before except that each has vastly in- creased its debt and the annual interest burden on its people while the financiers have gotten rid of accumulated capital in exchange for high interest gold bonds that cannot be paid for perhaps thirty or fifty years. This surely is the result if not the deliberate plan.

Frequent rumors of war or warlike preparations each year have been ping-ponged back and forth between the countries in the public press. These have tended to excite popular fear, hate and patriotism and cause the people to consent and even to urge the governments to swell vastly the mortgage burden upon the peoples for funds to increase and equip still larger standing armies and to build greater and more expensive navies. By withdrawing millions of men. into armies and idleness it reduces production and the earning power of the people, increases the burden on those employed, and makes it more certain that existing bonds will not be paid but will be refunded and increased. Why not have bigger armies, navies, forts, guns, idleness of millions of soldiers, rumors of war or even occasional war, when such things are so fruitful, so necessary to cause the issuance of more bonds to provide profitable investment.

The growing, selfish and insolent Money Power, incorporated and unincorporated, violates every law regulating and restraining its conduct, treats the people and their government with contempt, and then invokes the protection of the laws and the courts to shield the stolen "vested rights*' and privileges against violence that their own lawless course tends to incite.

The omnipotent and deadly octopus Congress is urged to legally set loose and install as the master of American banks, business, finance, industry, commerce and politics. Its poisonous and itching tentacles will gradually reach out and bind themselves about every home, farm, industry, bank, the public treasury, courts. Congress and the White House, gathering to itself supreme political power, sucking the wealth and substance of the people into Wall Street and dumping it into the Stock Exchange or the eager laps of the handful of men who will seek by moral if not by legal treason to rob the people of their God-given liberty, destroy the republic as a living reality and in its place erect an empire disguised as a democracy with incorporated wealth crowned as the ruling sovereign and all the people its subjects.

Hands on your head, submit peacefully

According to the story, an alleged student walked into Arapahoe High School in Colorado with a shotgun wounding two other students before killing himself and it couldn't have come at a more opportune time for the gun grabbing and police state control agenda. Tomorrow is the anniversary of whatever happened at Sandy Hook and there will be much media coverage, speeches and gnashing of teeth. Today's dead kid certainly added to the script.

A Sandy Hook playground
There's even a better image than the sign.

Sitting in a nest of bad men

Perp walk for Ryan Loskarn
Sometimes when hearing news from  DC, I'm reminded of that line from an old Hollies song.

Tennessee U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander's chief of staff Ryan Loskarn was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 11, by authorities on probable cause for possession and distribution of child pornography.

"Stunned, Surprised" said Lamar as he announced that Loskarn is gone along with his $169,000 a year salary.

Either the 35 year old was set-up or he's a perverted fool. You mean to tell he was oblivious to the NSA and others sucking up everything he was doing online and that for a price or a whim he could be taken down? It's part of the game in the nest.

I've seen where some are already calling it a Democratic dirty trick but in the case of tricks it very well could be the big buck benefactors of the tea party who would like for Alexander to get beat in next years election. Guilt by association and poor judgement in picking his staff is a good technique. They think Lamar is not destroying the US fast enough and speeding up the transferring of more and more of our wealth into their pockets. Alexander's opponent of the moment in the Repub primary, Joe Carr, hasn't been able to raise enough cash to build an outhouse much less a viable campaign. We'll see if this scandal helps him. Alexander needs to go but but as usual, real choices are non-existent.

Ryan Loskarn is not married and it is unknown whether he prefers boys, girls or both.

We have to wonder why some of the child porn and pedophilia in our capital and elsewhere are exposed while so much is covered up. If the charges on Loskarn are true, you know there are many more involved, some at a much higher pay grade than Ryan.

Media Fakery and Geo-Engineering

If you've ever had a conversation about the potential for media fakery in live TV broadcasts, one only has to point to the NFL games. They've been doing it for years with first down markers.  Now Fox has unveiled its latest technology in the Eagles and Lions game in Philadelphia where there was up to 8 inches of snow on the field.

Fox is periodically superimposing the field markings (including the yard numbers) over the snow.

It’s creating the impression that the lines — and the numbers — actually have been scraped of snow.

It's not perfect but it does make me wonder what else the networks and perhaps DARPA might have up their sleeves.  Media fakery can come in handy when trying to sell a scenario. Digital TV makes it easier than ever before.

Speaking of weather.....
Can Snow Storms Really Be Engineered?

There is a mountain of data including already conducted experiments, satellite imagery, lab tests of snow, observations on the ground, and multiple existing patents,  all of which point solidly to the conclusion that snow storms are being engineered with well established weather modification processes.  Two known patents for the process of “artificial ice nucliation for weather modification” are posted at the bottom of this article. The Chinese government has openly admitted they are creating ”artificial snow storms” but later backtracked after causing a billion dollars of damage to Beijing. If the Chinese government can routinely create snow storms out of what should have been a rain event, how much more advanced must our government be at this same process? When monitoring radar images of rain during a storm, it is now common to see the rain “flash out” to snow for no appearant reason. No mountains, no colliding air mass, nothing. The “meteorologists” at the Rothschild’s/ military industrial complex owned Weather Channel call this “turning over to snow”. Why would rain just “turn over” to snow for no reason? more

I don't want to get too carried away here, we have always had major storms of all types, but when it comes to the subject of geo-engineering the MSM is basically silent.  Even some of the major 'alternative' sites are not prone to delve into it.  There has been a deluge of articles all over lately that are critical of  'conspiracy theories' but they rarely add weather modification into their mix of 'kooky' ideas.

We only have to look back to the 1996 military research paper Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025 to see that some take geo-engineering seriously. We also know that if the government/military is going to develop destructive technologies, they have to test them. Nuclear weapons are a classic example. The US has a history of testing things on their own citizens without their permission  Do we really think this has ever ended? It's quite possible it has only gotten more intense. Why?...because they can.
Planet Earth has been besieged by many and diverse scientific experiments over the past one hundred years. The quantum leap in applied science and technology has “precipitated” a literal explosion of top secret and highly classified operations conducted in the atmosphere, throughout the planetary surface, as well as deep within the Earth’s crust. However, none comes close to the degree of round-the-clock damage inflicted on the biosphere as the DARPA-sponsored program of geo-engineering.
My own observations of  local chemtrails over the years are being backed up by others in various places. They occur within 1 to 3 days before a general rain. A couple of weeks ago, in the middle of the week when flight patterns out of Nashville are nearly identical, we had two days of nearly the same weather, temperature wise, and very little cloud coverage. The first day there were a few contrails and they dissipated quickly. The next day the skies were a checkerboard of trails with some big X's for good measure that slowly spread out. 2 days later it rained.

If push ever comes to shove, the official back story for chemtrails will be that they are to prevent global warming, to try and save the planet, it's for our own good and the program had to be kept secret just because we might not understand.

I don't know a whole lot about chemtrails or anything else for that matter. You can call me crazy but I think something's the sky...and it ain't good.

A photo from my front yard a few years back. It's typical and although sporadic, it is never ending.

Pearl Harbor - Blood Sacrifice

"While I am talking to you mothers and fathers, I give you one more assurance. I have said this before, and I shall say it again and again and again: Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars."
      FDR campaign statement of 1940

FDR was a lying traitor. He knew all along he was going to bring the US into the 'big war.' It was his task, he fulfilled it. December 7, 1941 was another major coup based on a lie that propelled us into chaos and carnage. It was far from the first. It turned out to be far from the last.

Admiral Husband E. Kimmel wrote in his memoirs:
"It was part of Roosevelt's plan that no warning be sent to the Hawaiian Islands. Our leaders in Washington, who deliberately didn't inform our forces in Pearl Harbor, cannot be justified in any way. The Pearl Harbor Command wasn't informed at all about ... the American note of November 26, 1941, delivered to the Japanese ambassador, which practically excluded further negotiations and made war in the Pacific inevitable. The Army and Navy Command in the Hawaiian Islands received not even a hint about intercepted and deciphered Japanese telegrams which were forwarded to concerned parties in Washington on the 6th and 7th of December, 1941."
The Pacific fleet had consisted of nine battleships, three aircraft carriers, and some smaller ships. The aircraft carriers and the smaller, more mobile ships were moved prior to the attack because Roosevelt knew they would be needed for a war at sea. On November 28th Fleet Admiral William F. Halsey (under Kimmel's command) sailed to Wake Island with the carrier Enterprise, three heavy destroyers and nine small destroyers; and on December 5th, the Lexington, three heavy cruisers and five destroyers were sent to Midway, and the Saratoga went to the Pacific Coast. The other battleships were considered dispensable, because they had been produced during and prior to World War I and were viewed as old and obsolete. They were to be sacrificed [along with the men].

A 'blood sacrifice' for bankers is a common theme. Nothing is more profitable for those who create the money than war, nothing. A nation in debt is a nation subservient. It can be summed up in these few words... "All Wars are Bankers Wars."

Not very many World War II vets would ever agree with the above. They couldn't. They did not want to believe they were pawns, that their war was not the noble effort to save the world but just one more money making and power scam for the few that would usher in an American empire of psychopathic new world order intent.

Unfortunately for the power elite, we have learned their tricks of false flags and media deception. OK, we have not stopped them but they have their concerns. We are the 7 billion, they are the few hundred at the very top with only a few tens of thousands at their immediate disposal. The numbers are in our favor and each day there are more and more who are awakening little by little. Pearl Harbor Day is yet another opportunity to spread the word that within each of us is the ability to make a difference. As we change ourselves we can change the world and find it is not necessary to play their games of violence, debt slavery and globalist colonialism . No one says it will be easy but it can be done. Will there be more blood sacrifices to manipulate us? You bet. That doesn't mean they will necessarily be as effective as in the past. That all depends on us.....

Tinker Tailor Terrorist Spy

Billionaire Hollywood producer and Israeli citizen, Arnon Milchan, who has long tinkered with the American mind and apparently tailored Oliver Stone's "JFK" to divert from Israel's and the jewish role in the assassination has finally admitted that he worked as a terrorist arms dealer and spy for his 'country.'

Arnon Milchan gave a lengthy interview to the Israeli documentary programme Uvda, broadcast on Monday on Channel 2, confirming claims made earlier in an unauthorised biography that he worked for an Israeli agency which neegotiated arms deals and supported Israel's secret nuclear weapons project.

He claimed to have used connections to promote the apartheid regime in South Africa in exchange for it helping Israel acquire uranium.

Milchan, who is part-owner of Israel’s Channel 10 television company, also admitted trying to use an unnamed big star to entice a US nuclear scientist to a private meeting in the actor’s house, although the report didn’t clarify if the rendezvous ever took place.

Notice that in the US, western and Israeli main steam media reports, that while listing a number of films Milchan has produced, "JFK" is conspicuous by its absence.

Shouldn't there be an immediate indictment issued for Milchan's arrest? If he ever sets foot again in this country shouldn't he be taken into custody for high crimes? He should share a cell with Jonathan Pollard.

Of course it won't happen and we all know the reasons why. It does add to the list of why we should boycott all Hollywood films as they so often provide cover for the crimes and myths of Israel. Being a traitor to the country these propagandists work in is just business as usual.

"Awaiting the Unknown" by Iraqi artist
Muayad Muhsin

The former "Sophia Scholar" has a new trilogy of blogs that you may find interesting.

Boy Down the Lane

Occurrences Domestic Foreign

The Sullen Bell

One of the main things at the top of my list in what I like about certain bloggers is the lack of monetary incentives, those that do what they do out of the love of communicating and trying to make a difference. A big hat tip to all of them.

Excerpt from "Boy".......
Libertarians and the Tea Party to the right of me, Socialists and progressives to the left of me, and Zionists and neo-conservatives dead ahead of me.

Don’t look now, but who’s behind me?

(Or, what’s in me?)

Virtually everyone has an opinion and insists strongly on it, and that he or she alone is correct, and that his or her perception of events, authors, etc. is accurate.  But we’re all human. We come from a specific place, with a specific upbringing and education in a specific culture, and our very humanity, our status as an upright biped with a triune brain and rampant hormones, all under the duress of modern life, the media, family matters, nutrition (or lack of it), erroneous belief structures, a failure to understand our own bodies and minds, all swimming in a tsunami of information, misinformation, and openly deceptive people and practices.

It has been said that our most significant problem and our most significant need is that we don’t know how to talk to one another. This is true among people who can be regarded to be in close contact and intimacy, let alone the additional tasks and burdens of trying to communicate virtually across miles and cultures through this thing called the Internet. So before we blindly dismiss opinions and perspectives, we ought to be sure we have a good reason for doing so.

This isn’t a Kumbaya message of “let’s all learn to get along”.

The message is that we must learn to talk to another for the sole purpose of life, of learning to succeed or thrive on our own terms without interference or control by others.

There has been some sort of agreement on Iran's nuclear program. Iran claims victory. Faux News with dual citizen traitor John Bolton also says 'a huge victory for Iran' but not in the same sense as Iran claims. My own Senator, Bob Corker, made the shill tour of the Sunday morning talking head 'shows' to express doubt and please his zionist handlers.

Apparently Netanyahu is still in his war mood. He doesn't like the talks outcome one bit but that's to be expected. He still wants the US to fight his wars for him and help expand the Eretz Yisrael concept.

Netanyahu spews his spite...
"What was achieved last night in Geneva is not a historic agreement, it was a historic mistake," Netanyahu told his cabinet. “Today the world has become a much more dangerous place because the most dangerous regime in the world took a significant step towards obtaining the world's most dangerous weapon.”

"Israel is not committed by this agreement.”  “The regime in Iran is committed to destroying Israel. [But] Israel has the right and obligation to defend itself from any threat, [and] will not allow Iran to develop a military nuclear capability."
From Catherine Shakdam (excerpt):
If anything, the horrors and humiliations which Israel and its foreign agents have imposed on the Palestinian people should act as a living reminder of what the Islamic world could undergo should the Zionists have their way.
And while many experts, politicians and analysts alike, have often labeled such warnings under the conspiracy theory tag, realities on the ground and more importantly recent world developments have come to sustain such theories as universal truth.

As Benjamin Franklin so cleverly put it, “Half a truth is often a great lie.” In the case of Israel, many half-truths have come to weave the biggest deception of all.

Just as surely as a spider weaves its web, Zionists have climbed dizzyingly high on the world power ladder, bent on crushing and discarding whoever and whatever will oppose its world domination agenda and race for ultimate rule.
Ever since the Zionists fooled a weak and exhausted post-WWII world community into buying into its so-called legitimate religious aspirations for a Jewish state on Palestinian land, Zionists have held the Islamic world hostage, having laid the cornerstone of the next battle to be had. World War III is a work in progress, if only we were to open our eyes.

Is there a break between Obama-Kerry and Israel or is this just grand theater

A senior White House official has said that Israel’s “all-or-nothing” posture demanding a total halt to Iran’s nuclear energy program is a path to war.In a conference call with think tanks and advocacy groups sympathetic to the Obama administration’s strategy with Iran, the official said Israel’s stance would “close the door on diplomacy” and would “essentially lead to war.”

In the midst of all this Iran talk we must not forget about Syria.  The mercenaries of the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and NATO are still continuing their deadly games. Although the BBC and CNN will tell us it's both sides killing children, we have to question their integrity. Syria is of course another war for Israel and the Saudis have a vested interest but sane people all over the world know this carnage must stop. Once again, just ask "Who Benefits?"

More than 11,000 children have died in Syria's civil war, including 128 killed by chemical weapons and hundreds targeted by snipers, a British think-tank says.
The Oxford Research Group, which specialises in global security, said in a new study that there were 11,420 recorded deaths of children aged 17 years and under.

The report, entitled Stolen Futures: The Hidden Toll of Child Casualties in Syria, analyses data from the beginning of the conflict in March, 2011, until August, 2013

The think-tank said 764 children were summarily executed and 389 were killed by sniper fire in the conflict.
While the US moves towards becoming a third world country that won't even take care of its own, our tax dollars go to the murdering of children in countries that are not our enemy. Somehow, someway, we have to stop this or next it could very well be be our own children, in our own streets.

A Nation of Lone Gunmen

From John Wilkes Booth (Lincoln), Charles Julius Guiteau (Garfield), Leon Czolgosz (McKinley), Lee Harvey Oswald (JFK), Sirhan Bishara Sirhan (RFK), James Earl Ray (MLK),  Charles Joseph Whitmam (UT Austin), and on up to the more recent, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold (Columbine). Seung-Hui Cho (VA Tech), Nidal Hasan (Ft. Hood), Jared Lee Loughner (Gabby Giffords), James Holmes (Aurora), Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook), Aaron Alexis (Washington Naval Yard) as well as a number of less well known characters, the meme of the lone nut gunman has been ingrained into the consciousness of America.

One could include those with alleged accomplices, Timothy McVeigh,  the 9/11 'hijackers,' and the 'Boston Bombers' into that general theme.

Add to that the lone 'suicide bombers' in the Middle East and elsewhere plus the very real local thugs and psychopaths who are in most every community, and what you have is a narrative of no matter where you may be, the lone gunman may be just around the corner. It creates the 'need' for security, disarming of citizens and mental evaluations of most everyone which must start in childhood.

This is no way to live. This is not the world of rational people.

Didn't the term 'lone gunman' as we now define it originate during the Warren Commission period? Now during this 50th anniversary of the great coup d'état, we have been inundated by the criminally complicit media with the repetitive meme of the lone gunman. A few token questions of conspiracy are allowed, trying for some little credibility, but not pursued. This has been a mass marketed re-affirmation of the lies of an official story. One of the most well planned and executed media psyops commemorating an 'event' ever. Mind control for the masses. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a 'lone nut' shooting fairly soon for reinforcement.

This social engineering doesn't work on everyone. Some just don't march to the tune and now they are portrayed as the enemy, the lone gunman, the threat.

The psychology of conspiracy theories is a new growth industry paid for by those who actually fear the truth. It's an attempt not just to marginalize but if needed to destroy a loosely defined movement who is tired of the crimes.

In a nation of lone gunmen, you are a suspect...if you can can think...if you question. Creating enemies, domestic and foreign, is an ongoing project but you know what? Their bullshit is fading, too many have caught on, too many are not amused by deception.

Peace to everyone who comes here. Thanks for remembering.

JFK and His Boy

In the 1973 film Executive Action there's the line "The Plan is perfectly plain, two terms for JFK, two for Bobby and two for Ted."

That idea would be the culmination of Joe Kennedy Sr.'s dream. Joe Jr., the first born who was groomed to lead the Kennedy political dynasty didn't make it back from WWII so it was left to the less well prepared JFK and the younger ones. Future generations would be encouraged to continue the tradition as time went on.

But a funny thing happened on the way to Camelot. Other families, and many of them, wanted a dynasty too. It was a covert war and the Kennedy's physically lost.

The most sinister money hungry families took control and became the puppet front for the US part in the world wide crime syndicate of theft and war. The Bush's and Clinton's, et al, beat the Kennedy's. Two down dead and Ted junks his chance in drink or he is sabotaged or both. The handlers are fairly happy but there's much more they want to do.

In the fading thoughts of our mythology is that the Kennedy's would at least have had a much smaller body count, both at home and overseas.

The Kennedy last stand was John-John. In the ungodly scenario of Hillary Clinton becoming president in 2016, the assassination of John Jr. is a most significant factor.

A revisit...
John F. Kennedy Jr. was killed on July 16, 1999. The last Kennedy who possibly could have made a difference died in an accidental plane crash according to the official reports. Official reports seldom tell the truth but exist to cover up the crimes. The corporate media, the same then as today, whitewashes the story.

John Jr. was going to run for the New York Senate. He would have won. Hillary Clinton would have been delegated to the dust bin of history and the U.S. political scene could have been much different than it is today. Of course the argument could be made that if he had not died then, other attempts would have been made. The threat against the established order was too great. He had to die.

Essentially, the same cabal that killed his father killed him.

WRH has an account of why the official story is in doubt:
John F. Kennedy Jr. - Evidence of a Cover Up

Other accounts also question JFK Jr's death:
Official Investigative Report - JFK Jr. Murdered!
Was JFK Jr. Murdered?

Caroline has been so non-controversial she became the Ambassador to Japan, Robert Jr.did have a few good things to say about electronic vote fraud but he stayed within the boundaries. They got to live. The rest of the family has either self destructed or decided to stay low key and be safe.

50 years of getting rid of or keeping in line the Kennedy's has been a success. Maybe we've learned a few things from it, even if we haven't done much about it.....yet.

Just what can we do for our country? That's a question which we still struggle with. JFK gave us a little hint on where we could start on April 27, 1961
"The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know."
"Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match.
"For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations."

JFK and the Zionists

Golda Meir and John F Kennedy meeting in the US, December 1962.

Before the election in 1960, JFK was careful in his words to the Zionist lobby. I guess he felt he needed to in order to win the jewish vote and money. Aspects of his speech to the Zionists of America are disappointing and contains some of the myths of the creation of Israel but it is part of the history that is not much spoken about during this 50th anniversary.  It was politics of the day and no need to whitewash what JFK said at the time. Things changed over time and Kennedy did push to keep Israel from obtaining nuclear weapons and he continually talked about peace in the Middle East but it was too little and too late. What could have been is the big unknown.

Speech by Senator John F. Kennedy, Zionists of America Convention, Statler Hilton Hotel, New York, NY
August 26, 1960

Prophecy is a Jewish tradition, and the World Zionist movement, in which all of you have played so important a role, has continued this tradition. It has turned the dreams of its leaders into acts of statesmanship. It has converted the hopes of the Jewish people into concrete facts of life.

When the first Zionist conference met in 1897, Palestine was a neglected wasteland. A few scattered Jewish colonies had resettled there, but they had come to die in the Holy Land, rather than to make it live again in greatness. Most of the governments of the world were indifferent.

But now all is changed. Israel became a triumphant and enduring reality exactly 50 years after Theodore Herzl, the prophet of Zionism, had proclaimed the ideal of nationhood. It was the classic case of an ancient dream finding a young leader, for Herzl was then only 37 years of age. Perhaps I may be allowed the observation that the Jewish people - ever since David slew Goliath - have never considered youth as a barrier to leadership, or measured experience and maturity by mere length of days.

I first saw Palestine in 1939. There the neglect and ruin left by centuries of Ottoman misrule were slowly being transformed by miracles of labor and sacrifice. But Palestine was still a land of promise in 1939, rather than a land of fulfillment. I returned in 1951 to see the grandeur of Israel. In 3 years this new state had opened its doors to 600,000 immigrants and refugees. Even while fighting for its own survival, Israel had given new hope to the persecuted and new dignity to the pattern of Jewish life. I left with the conviction that the United Nations may have conferred on Israel the credentials of nationhood; but its own idealism and courage, its own sacrifice and generosity, had earned the credentials of immortality.

Some do not agree. Three weeks ago I said in a public statement: "Israel is here to stay." The next day I was attacked by Cairo radio, rebuking me for my faith in Israel, and quoting this criticism from the Arabic newspaper Al-Gomhouria:

As for the question of the existence and the nonexistence of Israel, Mr. Kennedy says that Israel has been created in order to exist. Time will judge between us, Mr. Kennedy. I agree. Time will judge whether Israel will continue to exist. But I wish I could be as sure of all my prophecies as I am of my flat prediction that Israel is here to stay.

For Israel was not created in order to disappear - Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom; and no area of the world has ever had an overabundance of democracy and freedom.

It is worth remembering, too, that Israel is a cause that stands beyond the ordinary changes and chances of American public life. In our pluralistic society, it has not been a Jewish cause - any more than Irish independence was solely the concern of Americans of Irish descent. The ideals of Zionism have, in the last half century, been repeatedly endorsed by Presidents and Members of Congress from both parties. Friendship for Israel is not a partisan matter. It is a national commitment.

Yet within this tradition of friendship there is a special obligation on the Democratic Party. It was President Woodrow Wilson who forecast with prophetic wisdom the creation of a Jewish homeland. It was President Franklin Roosevelt who kept alive the hopes of Jewish redemption during the Nazi terror. It was President Harry Truman who first recognized the new State of Israel and gave it status in world affairs. And may I add that it would be my hope and my pledge to continue this Democratic tradition - and to be worthy of it.

What is needed now is leadership - impartial but firm, deliberate but bold - leadership instead of rhetoric. There has been enough rhetoric in recent years about free transit through the Suez Canal - but there has been no leadership. Our policy in Washington and in the United Nations has permitted defiance of our pledge with impunity - indeed, with economic reward.

If America's word in the world community is to have meaning - if the mutual security amendment which I cosponsored with Senator Douglas is to have meaning - and if the clear, thoughtful language of the Democratic platform is to have meaning - the influence of this Nation and other maritime powers must be brought to bear on a just solution that removes all discrimination at the Suez Canal for all times. And the White House must take the lead.

We have also had much rhetoric in recent years about opposing an arms race and a solution by force in the Middle East. The rhetoric has not only been empty and negative. Even more fundamental is the premise that if the United States and the United Nations are to reject a solution based on force, then they must accept the task of finding a solution based on reason and justice.

We can no longer shun this task by pleading that the problem is too difficult. The danger is already acute from delay. Russia's position is more entrenched. The Arab States are more divided and restless. The influence of the Western nations has steadily diminished.

When I talked with Prime Minister Ben-Gurion on his most recent visit to this country, he told me of dangerous signs of unrest beneath the deceptive quiet that has fallen over the Middle East. For there is no peace in that region today - only an embittered truce between renewed alarms.

American intervention, on the other hand, will not now be easy for the record is not one to which we can point with pride:
The humble plea by the George Allen mission to Cairo, to urge Egyptian reconsideration of their acceptance of Soviet arms;

The series of incredible American blunders which led to the Suez crisis of 1956, events in which the role of our Government has never been fully explained;

The so-called Eisenhower doctrine, now repudiated by some of the very nations which accepted our aid, and the cause even at that time of widespread antagonism from Middle Eastern leaders who felt we were cynically trying to use them for our own cold war ends;

And, in general, a deterioration in our relations with all Middle Eastern nations, primarily because neither Israel nor the Arabs knew exactly what to expect from us. At times it must have appeared to many in the area that the shortest route to Washington was through Moscow. At times it must have appeared that champions of democracy and freedom were being punished for their virtues, by being taken for granted by a neglectful administration that suddenly showed concern only when it was displeased by their conduct.
Peace in the Middle East is not one step nearer reality today than it was 8 years ago - but Russian influence is immeasurably greater.

What can a new President do? More weakness and timidity will not do. More stubborn errors redeemed at the last moment by impulsive action - will not do.

Now we must take the risk of leadership, and use our influence to compose this ugly situation before it breaks out in a new threat to peace. And I know we will not be alone in searching for a peaceful settlement - if our aims are high, and if they are centered solely on the genuine needs of the Middle East, and on an honorable end to these ancient quarrels.

First: I propose that the new President reaffirm our sincere friendship for all the peoples of the Middle East, whatever their religion or race or politics.

Second: I propose that we make it crystal clear that the United States means what it said in the tripartite declaration of 1950 - that we will act promptly and decisively against any nation in the Middle East which attacks its neighbor. I propose that we make clear to both Israel and the Arab States our guarantee that we will act with whatever force and speed are necessary to halt any aggression by any nation. And to complete the effectiveness of this guarantee, I propose that we invite all like-minded nations to join with us in signing, registering, and depositing this declaration with the United Nations.

At present the tripartite declaration is too uncertain of execution and effect to be a useful shield for peace. With countries so close to one another in a sensitive tension-ridden area, a delay of only a few days in international reaction to aggression might well be fatal to a nation's freedom and indeed the peace of the entire world. Once the nations of the Middle East have a firm and precise guarantee, the need for continuing the arms race will disappear, the easing of tensions inevitably will follow, and both sides will be able to devote their energies and talents to peaceful pursuits.

Third: I propose that all the authority and prestige of the White House be used to call into conference the leaders of Israel and the Arab States to consider privately their common problems, assuring them that we support in full their aspirations for peace, unity, independence, and a better life - and that we are prepared to back up this moral support with economic and technical assistance.

The offer would be made with equal frankness to both sides; and all the world would be watching the response of each side. I sincerely believe that an American presidential initiative for peace, honestly intended and resolutely pursued, would not be lightly rejected by either side. And I promise to waste no time in taking this initiative.

For I have always believed that there is no real conflict or contradiction between the genuine aspirations of the Arab nations and the genuine aspirations of Israel. The Arab peoples rose to freedom and independence in the very years which saw the rise of Israel. From the cooperation of these two awakened nationalisms could come a new golden age for the Middle East. But from their destructive vendetta can come nothing but misery and poverty and the risk of war.

The Middle East needs water, not war; tractors, not tanks; bread, not bombs. There is already little enough available in the way of financial and physical resources for either side to be devoting its energies to huge defense budgets. The present state of tensions serves only the worst interests of Arab and Israeli alike. But a new spirit of comity could well serve the highest ideals of both.

For the original Zionist philosophy has always maintained that the people of Israel would use their national genius not for selfish purposes but for the enrichment and glory of the entire Middle East. The earliest leaders of the Zionist movement spoke of a Jewish state which would have no military power and which would be content with victories of the spirit.

The compulsions of a harsh and inescapable necessity have compelled Israel to abandon this hope. But I cannot believe that Israel has any real desire to remain indefinitely a garrison state surrounded by fear and hate. And I cannot believe that the Arab world would not find a better basis for unity in a united attack on all their accumulated social problems - an attack in which they could benefit immensely from a closer cooperation with the people of Israel.

The technical skills and genius of Israel have already brought their blessings to Burma and to Ethiopia. Still other nations in Asia and in Africa are eager to benefit from the special skills available in that bustling land. Why should the Middle East alone be cut off from this partnership? And why should not the people of Israel receive the blessings available to them from association with the Arab world?

When we think of the possibilities of this association, an emotion of soaring hope replaces our somber anxieties about the Middle East. Ancient rivers would give their power to new industries. The desert would yield to civilization. Disease would be eradicated, especially the disease that strikes down helpless children. The blight of poverty would be replaced by the blessings of abundance.

But it is a long and painful step from the era of the boycott to the era of partnership - and that step needs the direct encouragement and help of the White House. The next President of the United States should always be personally available to stimulate every experiment in cooperation, from the joint development of a river, to a reconsideration of the Arab refugee problem, to the crowning mercy of the final reconciliation that can be brought only by a true peace settlement.

Peace is our primary objective in the Middle East - and peace is partly our responsibility. "Seek peace, and pursue it" commands the psalmist. And that we must do. With open minds, open hearts, and the priceless asset of our American heritage, we shall seek peace in the Middle East, as elsewhere. And when history writes its verdict, let it be said that we pursued the peace with all the courage, all the strength, and all the resourcefulness at our command.

In this task, I ask for your assistance, your patience, your wisdom, and your support - until we can say to Jew and Arab alike "Peace be within thy walls and plenteousness within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions' sake, I will wish thee prosperity."\

Diversion of the Day - Dave McGowan's New Laurel Canyon Book Coming Soon

Finally Dave's "Inside the LC" series is coming to book form. Since Dave has disabled many of the chapters at his site (aren't you glad you saved them all as PDFs) I guess that means he's giving us a little push to buy Weird Scenes with its new additions.

Unfortunately it won't be available for Christmas. It's due to be released April 30, 2014 (Walpurgis Night), from Headpress.

Whether you agree or disagree with McGowan on his conclusions, questions and speculations, all of his writings, to me at least, are entertaining when you need a little diversion.

Excerpt from a sample chapter at Dave's facebook.....
Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris
Working once again with Emmylou, Gram began working on tracks for what would be his posthumously-released second solo album, Grievous Angel. But as July of 1973 rolled around, a series of tragedies befell Parsons and the people around him. In July of the previous year, Gram’s friend Brandon DeWilde – who had introduced Gram to Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Bruce Dern and Jack Nicholson, resulting in Gram’s involvement in The Trip – had been killed in a traffic accident. A year later, on July 15, 1973, Gram’s friend and fellow musician, Clarence White, was hit by a car and killed. According to Fong-Torres, “Around the same time that Clarence White was killed, Sid Kaiser, a familiar face in the Los Angeles rock scene, a close friend of Gram’s and, not so incidentally, a source of high-quality drugs, died of a heart attack.” Just after those two deaths, “In late July 1973 … [Gram’s] house in Laurel Canyon burned down.”

Other sources, for the record, have placed that house in Topanga Canyon rather than Laurel Canyon. Whatever the case, Gram was home when the house caught fire and he was briefly hospitalized for smoke inhalation. Having lost their home and all their possessions, Gram and Gretchen “moved into Gretchen’s father’s spacious home on Mulholland Drive in Laurel Canyon.” Gram wouldn’t live in the Burrell estate long though; on September 19, 1973, Ingram Cecil Connor III died in a nondescript room at the Joshua Tree Inn. His death is usually attributed to a drug overdose, but toxicology reports suggest otherwise. Parsons’ death received minimal press coverage, partly because, as fate would have it, singer/songwriter Jim Croce went down in a blaze of glory the very next day, on September 20, 1973. But though the media had moved on, the Gram Parsons story wasn’t quite over yet.

Parsons had been a regular visitor to Joshua Tree National Park, where one of his favorite pastimes was said to be ingesting hallucinogenic drugs and then searching for UFOs. Sometimes he would take friends like Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones along with him to help with the search. In September of 1973, Gram was accompanied to Joshua Tree by his personal assistant, Michael Martin, Martin’s girlfriend, Dale McElroy, and Parson’s former high school sweetheart, Margaret Fisher. As the story goes, the group soon ran out of pot and quickly dispatched Martin back to LA to pick up a fresh supply. He was, therefore, officially not there at the time of Gram’s death, though why he hadn’t returned has never been explained, especially given that his job was, specifically, to keep an eye on Gram and monitor his drug intake.

How Gram Parsons died is anyone’s guess. There are as many versions of the event as there were witnesses to it. Actually, that’s not quite true – there are more versions than there were witnesses, because some of those witnesses have told more than one story. Officially, Parsons died of an overdose, but forensic testing revealed no morphine or barbiturates in his blood. Morphine showed up in his liver and urine, but as experts have noted, those toxicology results indicate chronic, but not recent, use. Police seem to have had little interest in getting at the truth and made no apparent effort to reconcile the various conflicting accounts. Details of the incident – such as how long Gram had been left alone, whether he was still alive when discovered, who made that discovery, etc. – were wildly inconsistent in the accounts of Fisher, McElroy, and Frank and Alan Barbary, who were the Inn’s owner and his son. Their accounts conflicted both with each other and with the girls’ accounts.

At the hospital, police spoke briefly with the two girls and then released them. Within two hours, Phil Kaufman was on the scene to pick up Fisher and McElroy. Bypassing the police and the hospital, Kaufman went directly to the Inn, which the girls had returned to, and quickly hustled them straight back to LA. Police never spoke to either of the women again, despite the conflicting accounts and the open question of what exactly it was that killed Gram.

On the autumnal equinox of 1973, Kaufman and Martin, driving a dilapidated hearse provided by McElroy, arrived at LAX to claim the body of Gram Parsons. If this story is to be believed, then nobody, including the police officer who was nearby, found it at all unusual that two drunken, disheveled men in an obviously out-of-service hearse (it had no license plates and several broken windows) had arrived without any paperwork to claim the body of a deceased celebrity. In fact, according to Kaufman’s dubious account, the cop even helped the pair load the casket into the hearse – and then looked the other way when Martin slammed the hearse into a wall on the way out of the hangar.

Kaufman and Martin then drove the body back out to Joshua Tree, doused it with gasoline and set it ablaze. Local police initially speculated that the cremation was “ritualistic,” which indeed it was, but such reports were, and continue to be, scoffed at.

On September 26, LAPD detectives, led by anchorman Larry Burrell, came knocking on Kaufman’s door with warrants to serve. Bizarrely enough, director Arthur Penn was there with a full crew shooting scenes for the film Night Moves with star Gene Hackman. When you are a friend of Charlie Manson’s, it would appear, everyone in Hollywood wants to hang out with you. While the crew continued working, Kaufman was taken in but he was back just a few hours later. In the end, he and Martin were fined $300 each plus reimbursement for the cost of the coffin.

In January 1974, four months after Parson’s death, Grievous Angel was released to critical acclaim and public indifference. Later that year, Gram’s adoptive father, Bob Parsons, died from complications of an alcohol-related illness. He had apparently been making moves aimed at gaining control of the deceased musician’s estate. By sheer coincidence, no doubt, the deaths of Gram and Bob Parsons were followed by the 1974 bankruptcy of much of the Snively family business. Around that same time, Little Avis gave birth to daughter Flora. Sixteen years later, both were killed in a boating accident in Virginia. Avis had made it all the way to age forty.
